WHAT?! ANOTHER PHOTO OF MY BROTHER?! So shocking...

Working on setting up a home studio to complement the whole AIB self-portrait. Its quite fun
actually =) . Clearly I have to work on the lighting aspect, but DIY Photography.com should help
with that. Though I have to say, Brendan must be getting sick of being my guinea pig. I just wish
I had a cable release to ACTUALLY focus the shot properly. Guess I need another trip to Hunts,
unless DIY Photo can help... OH WELL. RI Folk Festival tomorrow, getting up in roughly 5 hours.

Wisconsin REWIND

[SPEAKING OF WISCONSIN. I sure do bring it up often...]
Rifling through an ancient photobucket album is like exhuming an old time capsule.
I don't even know how old I am in this picture.

What Made Milwaukee Famous

[Just some snapshots of Madison, WI.]
Severely backlogged, so expect several posts to come. Wisconsin, which i've already mentioned,
was MARVELOUS. Lots of dodgy hookah bars, vintage/ secondhand shops, farmers markets,
fantastic music scene (which I could gauge by the vast array of flyers advertising obscure music.)

Part of me wants to move up to Wisconsin for a year or so, after I'm finished with college. Its the

perfect mix between an urban and rural lifestyle, and I would absolutely love to  get to know the

city. I just want to be a traveling nomad--with no direction, no one to answer to or depend on.

Just lift yourself up--and run. Farther, faster now, far far away.

[Hull, MA with some pretty fantastic kiddos]
AHH I LOVE HOLGA-ing. I'm really excited to have some time to myself--things have
been beyond busy lately, regardless of the fact that its summer, and I finally had time
today to scan negatives, continue  reading  Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
(which is a fantabulous book...), continue writing more music,  and even start my
AIB project! SHOCKING! In summary, life is simply excellent at the moment =)

Its also nice to have a little hiatus from the mass networking scheme of things.
So, here's to a week of fantastic live music, Boston adventures, shootin' more film,
tattoo retouches,  and FORT ADAMS FOLK FESTIVAL IN RI! So excited.

"I really don't mind the rain. Its 2:00 am, and i'm basking in candlelight. Eyes dancing from each shadow the streetlight casts--one to the next. Chilled to the bone, eyes burning from the exhaust exiting my lungs--charcoal whispers dancing in the air, grasping for life, yet falling and slowly fading. An existence so brief, a lifetime of seconds. But the fire, ablaze and burning in my chest cavity--smoldering and resonating within my eyes--it does not cease. And, perhaps, it never will.
The mind wanders. I close my eyes for a moment and suddenly there you are. If only I could feel you again, if only your frame wouldn't disappear in the morning. If only I could still smell your scent on my pillow. But the record stops as soon as it reaches the last track. Last dance, last call for all forlorn lovers before the morning breaches the night."
Eyes open.

Side Note: I am CONVINCED that my future husband will be a music loving lumberjack. OUTFITTED IN PLAID.

[I bet she's listening to a mixture of The Cure, Vampire Weekend, and a little bit of The Distillers....]
This is what insomnia, and staying up till 4:30am Tuesday nights/Wednesday mornings
will produce.  I'm still not finished, but I like It so far. I just wish I could have turned it into
some kind of self portrait for AIB. But...
A) As far as I can tell, I don't have a monroe piercing
B) Yep, don't wear glasses
C) Is my hair that short? I don't think it is...
Oh well! I'm a photo major anyway. I just want to brush up on my drawing, etc, for when I do
actually have to take a drawing class first semester. But I did just get back three rolls of negatives!
HORRAY! Something for me to play with =D Ah, I simply cannot wait to go to college!

Welcome Home

Love.
He sat me down. He said he was incomplete. He thinks true love's gonna get him back on his feet.
He said you only find love once in your life. So I guess when you find it , you're gonna hold it right.
You'll hold it, right? It makes no sense, cause there's no sense in it at all. We all wait around,
we wait for you to get tired and fall. As your shadow it resumes in me--Yes, your shadow it was
made for me. She speaks clearly, he speaks loudly. I speak only clearly loudly.

Erste Tätowierung

Public bathrooms in Allston have some pretty kick-ass grafitti. Especially when you
seek out some really obscure coffee shops... If i could only remember the name of the
cafe now. Oh well. I'll have to go back there sometime and see if I can find it.
Just got tattoo-ed last Thursday.
It hardly hurt and its healing nicely--no problems, infections, scabbing. I absolutely love it.
I might have to go in for slight touch ups though... I've been taking good care of it, just minor spots.
But still a bit of a hassle. Oh well. I was willing to make the commitment, and i love it, so cest la vie!

What do you say it's up for grabs now that you're on your way down

"Look me in the heart and unbreak broken, it won't happen. It's love that
leaves and breaks the seal of always thinking you would be--Real, happy and
healthy, strong and calm, where does the good go. Where does the good go?"

Madison Art Festival

So while I was in Madison, there was this gigantic art fair near
the capitol. Unfortunately, I am way too poor to actually support
the artists I saw (cmon' i'm an incoming student...) so I decided
to grab loads of business cards and post my favorites here. Enjoy!

Audrey Heller  [HERE]
Katherine Allen-Coleman [HERE]
Xavier Nuez [HERE]
Emerson Matabele [HERE]
Kyle Spears [HERE]
Keith Grace [HERE]
Lisa Kristine [HERE]

[This is an actual dress, stiffened, glued, decoupage'd, and painted...]

Home to more than just cows and cheese!

Its funny how when you visit a fairly new setting, or even just
a place you haven't seen for a year or so, you seem to appreciate
your surroundings so much more-- or the people surrounding you.
Every time we visit Wisconsin, I hate leaving. I love these people.

Bloggin' up a Sturm

Why do I bother blogging?
I find writing therapeutic--just like drinking tea, or flipping open a
sketchbook and doodling,  listening to a fantastic mix, or just a heart
stopping discography. Not that I'm horribly depressed, because to be
honest--I have been feeling so enlightened, so BRUTALLY happy
these days. Its therapeutic, in a sense that when I come home after
a long day, I'm up at all hours of the morning just writing, or drinking tea,
or drawing, or brooding over fantastic music. These are just a collection
of things that I enjoy, things that make me smile until I pass out from
exhaustion at 3:30am. And to me? Completely worth it. Every minute.

Bitches, I just bought Crocs. Leopard printed Crocs. WHAT?
I LIKE THEM. THEY'RE ACTUALLY REALLY AWESOME.
And waaaaay more comfortable than your shoes. I really mean
that. I feel like I'm walking on air. YES, I KNOW. THEY'RE
CROCS. I UNDERSTAND THAT. AND I BOUGHT THEM =)

SumSumSummer

It definitely does not feel like summer. At all. And yet,
it still feels like its slipping away. Already July, and still
so much to do! I've got to say, the sporadic thunderstorms
are doing me a great service... I love that mysterious/foggy
night schema. SO. Before I lose track of the time, I figured...

THINGS I MUST ACCOMPLISH
1. That sketchbook isn't there to be stared at all summer...
2. Research AT LEAST one new band a week.
3. Yeah, so--eating healthier. Plain and simple
4. SHOOT. MORE. FILM.
5. Shoot more, period.
6. PLAN MORE ADVENTURESSSSSSSS
